ABOUT ME
I have been tutoring for 4+ years as an academic English Language and Literature tutor, supporting students with GCSE and A Level for a range of exam boards. Since then, I have branched out to TESL, Primary school English support, editing and essay support services.
I have taught English abroad in Italy and Nicaragua, devising my own course structure, material and student assessment.
I have an academic background rooted in English, holding a first class BA degree in English Language and Literature and distinction grade MA degree in English Literature (University of Sheffield), and a merit grade MA degree in History of Art (University of Birmingham). I have also received a Master's scholarship in recognition for my academic achievement in English at undergraduate level.
TUTORING AND EDITING SERVICES
I offer a range of different services from private tuition at primary and secondary school level to editing and proofreading documents. Please get in touch to arrange a discussion as to how I can best help either you or your child.
PRIMARY SCHOOL TUITION
At primary level, I can offer support with general reading, spelling, writing, comprehension, and grammar. Coming from a Linguistics background that includes phonetics, I also have experience with phonics and teaching pronunciation. I can cover all aspects of the national curriculum, and use statutory spelling and reading as a starting point for my lessons.
SECONDARY SCHOOL TUITION
At secondary level, I specialise in GCSE English Language and Literature and A Level English Language and Literature for all exam boards. I work with students using an individual approach to support them with areas they struggle with or to push them further outside of school. I also offer non-exam-based tuition for KS3 to help students develop confidence and their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
ESSAY WRITING
I can help you with structuring, writing, phrasing, referencing and editing your university written assessments so that they sound as polished as possible. I have significant experience helping students within a wide range of academic fields, from humanities subjects to nursing and health and social care. I have a proven track record of getting students from a 2:2 up to a 2:1 or a First grade, as well as helping students at a high risk of failing to pass their written assessments.
ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
I have 6+ years of experience working with students learning English as a foreign language, specialising in adult learning. My linguistic background means that I can help you refine your use of grammatical constructions, broaden your vocabulary, and help you to perfect your pronunciation. I have worked with both child and adult learners all over the world, having specialised in supporting advanced learners to develop confidence in their communication skills.
EDITING AND PROOFREADING SERVICES
I offer editing and proofreading services for any document that you require to be written to a high standard of English by a native speaker. This includes but is not limited to: website pages, articles, blog posts, university essays, emails, CVs, cover letters, academic documents, and business proposals. I can adapt my editing style according to your needs, whether you need your writing to send academic or colloquial.
PRICES
For all of my tuition and essay help services, I offer a welcome price of £20 per hour priced subsequently at £30 per hour.
I can offer discounts for bulk lessons that continue regularly.

MY POLICIES
Clients may cancel with up to 24 hours notice before the session with no fees incurred. Cancellations of less than 24 hours notice or no-shows to the session will result in a charge of the full rate.
Sessions booked after 8pm will be charged at a rate of 50% extra.
Unless otherwise agreed, I take payment directly after the completion of each session.
